Morgan State University – School for architecture + planning (Baltimore, USA) organiseert op donderdag 10 oktober het eendaagse symposium From Exclusion to Inclusion: rethinking infrastructure to bridge Baltimore’s Divides. Wouter is een van de sprekers op het symposium en geeft eerder in de week ook een college op de universiteit.
Het symposium onderzoekt welke invloed wetgeving en ontwerppraktijk hebben op de segregatie en ongelijkheid in Baltimore. De focus ligt op infrastructuur zoals wegen en straatbeeld. Ook wordt gekeken hoe de MLK, Jr. Boulevard ingezet kan worden om segregatie en ongelijkheid te voorkomen in plaats van te bevorderen.
Het symposium wordt gevolgd door een netwerkreceptie. Tijdens deze receptie kan je ook de tentoonstelling bezichtigen met werk van studenten van de Rotterdamse Academie van Bouwkunst en Morgan State University.

Wouter is one of the speakers and earlier in the week also gives a lecture at Morgan State University.
The symposium traces the impact of policies and design practices that reinforced segregation and disparity in Baltimore — focusing on infrastructure like roads, streetscape, and transit — and envisions a better way forward for the MLK, Jr. Boulevard corridor.
The symposium is followed by an evening networking reception that serves as the exhibition opening, where you can view work from students of the Rotterdam Acadamy of Architecture and the Morgan State University.
