Hamburg Bergedorf Competition 2nd Prize
Schaltraum and MUST present a proposal for a mixed-use urban development in the Hamburg district of Bergedorf.
The design brings together the local identity of Bergedorf and the ambition of the city of Hamburg to create high-quality living, working and public space along one of its main high streets, the Magistrale B5.
The new volumes produce an ensemble with the existing tower and create a sheltered courtyard with housing and terraces. At the street level, priority is given to pedestrian and bikes, with large sidewalks and cut-back corners to create cosy and attractive public spaces related to the building programme.
